Are you currently living on your own, away from parents or caregivers, and unable to acquire a stable, safe, or consistent residence?
Most young people who experience homelessness do not choose to be, nor wish to be. From sleeping rough or in emergency shelters, to a range of precarious housing and shelter circumstances, the experience of homelessness is often negative, unhealthy, unsafe, traumatizing, and stressful.
As a youth, you have a greater likelihood of being part of the ‘hidden homeless’ population. You may couchsurf, stay temporarily with friends or relatives because you cannot go home. Before now, you probably haven’t sought out services to support you. Or maybe you have a “home” but your living situation is abusive, unsafe, unsupportive, and/or inherently precarious. If this sounds familiar, you may be considered “at risk” of homelessness. We can help.
Through transitional housing, the Barbara Weider House, and Your S.A.F.E. Outreach program, we will work with you to rebuild your life and help you reach your full potential.
Our Homelessness Diversion Program
One of the ways we are able to support you is to assess what took you from stability to instability and what ultimately led to you being at risk. These situations range anywhere from drug and alcohol addiction to mental illness including some congenital disorders. Most often, there are disagreements between the youth, the caregivers, parents, guardians and even seniors within the household. More often than not, these disagreements are resolvable and we have found success in the majority of cases with which we’ve been involved… with the safety of youth always at the core of our efforts.
Youth Outreach Program
Our Youth Outreach Program is a specialized service offered by Home Horizon that allows us to reach out to vulnerable youth, both in person and digitally and make sure that youth get connected to the services that they need.
