Help us transform the lives of youth at risk of facing homelessness.
Home Horizon is thrilled to announce the ninth annual Spirit of Collingwood Tour taking place in person at the Alpine Ski Club on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. This year 100 per cent of the funds raised are going to support Home Horizon Barbara Weider House for youth who are at risk of facing homelessness in the South Georgian Bay area.
Community members come together to celebrate the spookiest day of the year to sample a selection of local spirits and gourmet tastings supplied by local restaurants. There are great live and silent auctions and, finally, a fabulous dinner and dance at the Alpine Ski Club all while generating greater awareness and raising much-needed funds for Home Horizon.
The event is a great opportunity to showcase the quality of our local spirits and restaurants while bringing together the community in support of the critical work Home Horizon does.
Home Horizon, a local charitable organization, transforms the lives of youth at risk of homelessness by providing them with the opportunity to rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential. In July 2017 we opened the Barbara Weider House dedicated to serving youth aged 16 to 24 who are facing homelessness. In addition to providing safe, stable and affordable housing, we provide health and life skills education, mentorship, and individualized support plans for these youth, which helps them to set realistic goals and teaches skills that last a lifetime. The Barbara Weider House is the only facility in our community dedicated to serving youth at risk of homelessness.
Big shout-out to our lead sponsors of this event, Alpine Ski Club, Crozier Consulting Engineers, MJ Byrnes Irish Pub, Men with Knives and RBC Dominion Securities, our corporate sponsors, individual donors, venue hosts, spirit hosts, media support and our food hosts and our volunteers.
“We continue to struggle with the battle against youth homelessness. The expansion of the Barbara Weider House and our Youth Thrive and Outreach programs continue to help Home Horizon to meet the growing demand for youth who are in transition,” said Deb Piggott, Home Horizon fund development manager.
