Youth homelessness has reached crisis proportions in Canada and youth here in Collingwood, Creemore, Meaford, Stayner, Thornbury, Wasaga Beach, and the Blue Mountains, are facing the risk of homelessness right now.
The first step is to help these youth find a safe roof over their head which could be the Barbara Weider House or through our Your S.A.F.E. youth outreach program to help connect them with other housing service organizations in our community.
The Covid-19 pandemic has led to high youth unemployment, job insecurity, stressful home situations, and little ability to couch surf, resulting in more youth in our area sleeping rougher than ever before.
But we are helping. Because of people like you, and our generous community, we are able to bridge the critical gap between emergency shelter & independent living. We are able to provide access to counselling and life skills programs to help our youth successfully rebuild their lives and transition to independent living and adulthood.
