Join Home Horizon for The Coldest Night of the Year Walk & Fundraiser
The Coldest Night of the Year is a national fundraiser that raises money and awareness for the hungry, homeless and hurting. Traditionally the community gathers and embarks on a 2km/5km walk followed by an Apres-Walk celebration. Limited to a virtual event, teams will walk the trails, downtown, neighbourhoods and school tracks in honour of those in need.

Home Horizon’s mission is to transform the lives of youth at risk of homelessness by providing them with the opportunity to rebuild their lives. This could be through their Youth Outreach Program or the Barbara Weider House, servicing youth across South Georgian Bay including Thornbury, Meaford, The Blue Mountains, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Stayner and Creemore.
The ‘Your S.A.F.E. (Specialized Access for Everyone)’ Outreach Program is an Individualized Approach to Youth Homelessness which allows Home Horizon to reach out to vulnerable youth, both in person and digitally, as part of a COVID response. Home Horizon has served 52 youth just since July and currently has 21 youth actively working with the program to locate stable/long-term housing.
The Barbara Weider House bridges the critical gap between emergency shelter and independent living for youth facing challenges due to homelessness, family instability, physical and mental abuse and illness. There are currently 22 on the waiting list for the Barbara Weider House.
Event chairs Deb Piggott and Alison Smith would like to thank our lead sponsors BeaverTails and C.F. Crozier & Associates, event sponsors, team captains, walkers, volunteers, and donors.
