Fall News 2020

Over the summer Home Horizon took small steps to provide a level of normalcy for our staff and residents by updating our COVID-19 protocols and allowing for more interactions and freedoms within the house. As we move into the fall season, we are very mindful that the threat of COVID-19 is still in front of us. With that we continue to update our protocols and continue to develop our plans to respond to a second wave.

Welcome Steven Pelletier, Executive Director
My name is Steven Pelletier and I am very happy to succeed Karyn Baker as the new Executive Director of Home Horizon. Through my career I have worked all over Simcoe County with most of my efforts in the north region area, where I currently live.

I come to Home Horizon with a number of experiences and knowledge to offer, including work with vulnerable demographics, program and community development, crisis response, housing & homelessness and the provision of basic needs.  Before coming to Home Horizon, I was the Chief Executive Officer of The Guesthouse Shelter and Community Hub in Midland, ON. I have worked the frontline as an Outreach Worker within the Indigenous Friendship Centre movement.

I want nothing more than to help the organization and our residents grow and thrive. Please feel free to reach out to me, I am very excited to get to know the community! Steven@homehorizon.ca

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY!

DOUBLE YOUR GIFT MATCHING CAMPAIGN - George Weider and Gord Canning, two founding Capital Campaign donors, want to inspire other donors to  support homeless youth in our community by donating a matching gift offer.

UNTIL DECEMBER 31st, EVERY DOLLAR YOU DONATE TO HOME HORIZON WILL BE DOUBLED.

How it works - if you give $50, the total gift would be worth $100. Or if you donated $250, the total gift would be worth $500, doubling the impact of your gift. We currently have 46 youth on our waiting list and many more out there in need of our services. Consider a donation, today. We thank you.

Yes! I want to donate and I want George & Gord to match it!

Recent Fundraising Initiatives

Spirit Tour - Covid-19 may be trying to bring us down but on October 31st, we were #togetherinspirit! Community members celebrated the spookiest day of the year with a gourmet meal catered by Men with Knives, paired with a selection of local spirits and treats, all while raising close to $20,000 for Home Horizon! Thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and event partners for supporting this fun event.

The Picnic Project - We celebrated summer with a basket of gourmet goods from Roadrunner Foods, Georgian Hills Vineyards, and The Pop-Up Event Company: a fun, summer-filled way of enjoying good food, good company, and most importantly, a chance to do good! Many thanks to our event sponsors and partners for all of the hard work, we were able to raise $4,700 for this pandemic-friendly event.

Thank you for taking time to keep updated on all of our news and for your continued support. As always, you can reach out to us with any comments, questions, or concerns. Enjoy this beautiful weather and stay healthy and safe! Deb Piggott | Fund Development Manager | 705-888-3636.
