Home Horizon Welcomes New Executive Director

MEDIA RELEASE – INTRODUCING STEVEN PELLETIER, HOME HORIZON’S NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Collingwood, ON – My name is Steven Pelletier and I am very happy to succeed Karyn Baker as the new Executive Director of Home Horizon. Throughout my career I have worked all over Simcoe County with most of my efforts in the north region area, where I currently live.

Before re-educating and switching my career path to the nonprofit sector, I spent ten years as an IT professional.  I come to Home Horizon with a number of experiences and knowledge to offer, including work with vulnerable demographics, program and community development, crisis response, housing & homelessness and the provision of basic needs.

Before coming to Home Horizon, I was the Chief Executive Officer of The Guesthouse Shelter and Community Hub in Midland, ON. I have worked the frontline as an Outreach Worker within the Indigenous Friendship Centre movement.  I am a Faculty Member at Georgian College in Collingwood and Barrie where I instruct in the Social Service Worker program, Indigenous Studies and General Education.

My educational experience includes a degree in Computer Technology, Community and Social Development and Human Service Administration.  Lastly, I am a Board Member for the Community Legal Clinic of Simcoe County, Muskoka and Haliburton located in Orillia.

In my free time I like to keep busy on our family farm where my wife and I raise our four-year-old son. You will often find me out somewhere in our bush, cutting wood, ATV-ing, or chasing down my son.  I have a passion for music and I am a lifelong musician.   My personal mission in life is simply to help as many people as humanly possible.  I love to create, build and develop.

I am so excited to be a part of Home Horizon; our mission, our residents really speak to me and I want nothing more than to help the organization and our residents grow and thrive. Please feel free to reach out to me, I am very excited to get to know the community! Steven@homehorizon.ca
